Google ships Gemini 3.8 Flash at the same per-token price and keeps the cyber twin behind Fairwind
Google on Wednesday introduced Gemini 3.8 Flash and a cybersecurity twin, Gemini 3.8 Flash Cyber, the third Flash release in six weeks, Tulsee Doshi and Raluca Ada Popa wrote on the company blog. Introductory pricing matches 3.7 Flash: $0.75 per million input tokens and $3.75 per million output tokens.
The company says 3.8 takes extra reasoning steps and tool calls on hard tasks, so it might use more tokens, especially at higher effort. Developers who want the shorter, cheaper run can keep 3.7.
That is a sticker that did not move and a meter that can. Stevie Bonifield at The Verge cites Artificial Analysis measuring about 40 percent more capability than 3.7 Flash despite unchanged per-token pricing, driven by 30 percent more output tokens per task and more agentic turns.
Ryan Whitwam at Ars Technica writes that the introductory rate runs through the end of the year. The regular price would be $1.50 and $7.50.
Flash Cyber is the other ship. It is built to find software bugs and write patches, and Google says it prioritizes fixing over writing exploits. It does not go on the public developer list.
Access runs through a Fairwind Program for governments and trusted partners, more than 650 of them globally. The Verge names CrowdStrike and the Center for Internet Security among the members. Four Flynn’s Fairwind post says access is limited to cyber, incident-response, and pentest teams, with MFA.
Google’s own benches, and named partners’, put Flash Cyber at frontier-level on CyberGym and at a 47.2 percent pass@1 on Collinear’s CWE-Bench against 47.8 percent for a leading frontier model, at lower cost. Chrome Security, inside Google, claims 2.6 times more correct patches than the best larger commercial models. Those are company and partner claims.
3.8 Flash is on Google AI Pro, Ultra, and the developer and enterprise APIs today. The cyber twin stays on the partner side of Fairwind.
